Aeolian Bike Ride’s 10th Birthday

August 17, 2014 @ 3:00 am - 6:00 pm

Free

Ten years ago, artist Jessica Findley organized the first Aeolian ride, outfitting 52 bicycle riders in inflatable costumes and documenting the sculptural group ride from Manhattan to Brooklyn. The Aeolian Ride has a magical effect of creating a loop of joy between the spectator and the performer. It also transforms the everyday street to a place for public art where the public is the art. Since then Aeolian Riders have taken an amazing ride through 20 cities around the globe. See it happen here: http://www.aeolian-ride.info/video.html

Riders will arrive on Governors Island at 3 pm and everyone is invited to a party, which will include live music by Deva Mahal and Jacob Bills of O Paradiso, and cupcakes, as well as the chance for kids to participate in costumed rides.
